The current mechanism implemented in the CoreObjectFactory is not very flexible. There are no means to specify priorities for choosing the right mapper or reader/writer class for a certain data type. The loading and unloading of extensions is cumbersome. A lot of these problems could be addressed by rewriting the CoreObjectFactory and making use of the new micro services.
