one always has to add the correct file extension manually.

The new implementation in QmitkIOUtil (replaces QmitkCommonFunctionality) seems to correct this.

I reopen this because the problem still exists.

If you want to save the image as compressed NIfTI then the image is saved as NRRD and the following message appears on the console:

WARNING: .gz extension is unknown. Extension set to default: /home/espakm/tmp/t678/ghjk.nrrd

This is with the last MITK version with ITK3 that is later than the last update to this ticket.

Fixed when working on T15480.
