Research work in the medical field often requires to compare two images. E.g., two CT image, the first taken before the intervention for planning, the second showing the results. Or, as a second example two images of different tumor stages.
Especially if you use multiple displays it is very helpful to show one image on a single display and e.g., compare both by scrolling to specific slice in both images. At the moment this can be done by opening two instances of MITK, which is apparently not the best way, especially because you can't work on the same data tree, e.g. to perform a registration by setting landmarks in both images.
A quite simple way to allow for visulaization of two images in MITK would be a new plugin which shows an second image additionaly to the display view. The new view should look like the current display view, but must offer the possibility to select a specific image from the data storage.
