This is very likely due to the additional full stops in the file name. The code retrieves the (full) file extension from the file name and probably looks at the extension "55_0.55_0.55.pic.gz" and tries to match this with a known extensions.
I don't know how to handle this case best.

Okay, I just rename the file for now but we should discuss a strategy for files with dots in their names.
