I tried using the Logging as @floca suggested, however I am not familiar with what I should be looking for (attached MitkWorkbench_.log file). I tried downloading the MITK Workbench binaries corresponding to v2018.04.2 and got the same error, attaching the screenshot.

It would be helpfull to see the log output in order to see if a different reader configuration was choosen and which. Please activate the log window and check the out put of the read process.

@steint I think I would have made it slightly different, but this is more a case of tast than hard facts (at least I have no good arguments against it right now ;).
So bottom line: We should go with the changes. Thanks. If we learn that something is missing, nothing stops us to revisit and refactor.

The active render window inside the multi widget editor is only set if the layout is changed.
It needs to be set if the user interacts with the render window.
@floca Do you agree?
Stacked bar charts are also supported, but handled differently than stacked area charts.
