The windowing of MITK for grey scaling of DICOM data is utmost inconvenient ;). In commercial medical softwares such as PACS, usually a binded mouse button is used, where the horizontal axis and vertical axis of mouse movement are doing the trick (e.g. the right button).

Maybe you dont have to change how the quantitative scaling at the right side, but implementing this feature would be very useful.
