[Registration] Mapping crashes when super-sampling is activated

Description

During the demonstration of registration in our workshop, mapping with activated super-sampling caused the workbench to crash.
Using different data, I was not able to reproduce the bug. Setting the sampling factor too high caused the mapping to abort with "bad allocation", but did not cause a crash.

Not clear when and how it happens. Need to narrow it down more.
