Based on the threshold set with window leveling a different segmentation result is obtained (tested for MRI). Is this a desired effect? A possibility would be to introduce a checkbox to toogle this coupling or use different mouse buttons for this functionality (e.g. pressing left for enabling growing with global threshold whereas right button only considers current range).
