NULL selection passed after clicking somewhere outside of data manager

Description

To reproduce:

Load an image
Select it in Data Manager
Click e.g. in MultiWidget

-> A selection event which is NULL is propagated, but image is still selected (?)

This is normal behavior. Clicking in another part results in sending the selection provided by this part. If the part does not provide a selection provider, the selection send is null.
