Sometimes different level/window values appear than set in the presets , e.g. using brain.nrrd from MITK-Data: When setting the preset “air” (-700,600), the preset are instead set to (-2,199).
This is maybe the case since the value -700 is out of the image range. It is, however, possible to set (-700,600) manually in the level/window boxes.

I also think that if you realy select a preset it should be aplied, even if it is (partially) out of range. Everything else would have an impact on the visualization and would for example lead to the fact that a certain preset has for the same value different appearances in different images.
