The currently active render window is usually highlighted by a red border. Which window is "active" is changed by clicking into a window, making it active.
However, this does not work for the utility widget at the top of MxN windows at the moment. Clicking there does not change the focus, even though I would argue it should.

I looked shortly into this, but couldn't find an easy way to solve it. The problem is that for the desired behavior, one needs to capture not only events of the utility widget itself, but also of all its child widgets.
