Xin please provide some more informations about this bug

1. Create a segmentation of a object with the segmentation plugin.
2. Change from the segmentation plugin to the clippling plane plugin
3. Click on the button "Create new clipping plane"

The cplipping plane is beside the object surface.

4. Click on the segmentation in the data manager
5. Click the button "Create new clipping plane" again

The clipping plane is through the object surface.

This behaviour is actually not a bug. Maybe we can add a warning, if no data node is activated in the data manager

This seems to be just a matter of usability. It shouln't be to hard to fix. Changed Target Milestone to upcoming release

Ok, as from Xin supposed this behaviour is actually not a bug. But sure, the user should get an feedback if he creates a standard clipping plane or a clipping plane which uses the geometry of a referenced image.

So we need a good concept for the feedback. One proposal is to change the text of the button..."Create new standard clipping plane" und "Create new clipping plane on selection" or something similar. But we have to consider if the user can recognize this "small" change.

This bug could not be fixed for release 2013-06. Setting target milestone to next release

Relevant for upcoming release. Since this behaviour is confusing we should discuss it and fix it. Adapting severity and priority
