On my system (Dell precision laptop, Win 7, VS 2008 (32 bit build), express card with serial port for connection to the tracking system) the tracking with the Aurora system (Compact FG) freezes from time to time when used together with an Ultrasound device (Telemed device). This happend on various mitk version between the 2013-12 and 2014-03 release.
When the tracking freezes, the tracking tools stay valid but the positional/orientational data is not updated any more. After a time (about a minute) the tracking data becomes invalid for some seconds and afterwards the tracking works again. In some of the cases this didn't happen and the tracking freezes completely until MITK is closed.
I already tests some stuff to isolate the problem:
- I changed the tracking system with all components including all sensors except for the FG... but the problem is still there.
- I tested various MITK versions between the 2013-12 and 2014-03 release.
- It seems that on other computers (e.g. Adrians PC) the problem doesn't occur. But we still have to check exactly the same versions of MITK.
- I tried to remove all objects that might disturb EM tracking and also tried to remove all windings of cables (e.g., cables of senors or even the cable of the FG)
What needs to be checked to further isolate the bug:
- Test if this problem ever happens if the Ultrasound device is not used (means for IGT only)
- Does the problem occur on other systems (best test the same versions)
- Does the problem occur with MITK only? (Until now the I always used an MBI build)
- Test if there might be a problem with the serial port on this computer.
