I produced some code, but more as an occupational therapy sort of activity. I arrived at the conclusion that it might suffice to take one of our modules with readers/writers/mappers as an example instead of investing too much time in a fantasy module for a tutorial

bug-12664-expTutorial contains a start of some documentation describing how to create a new module. Making a new module to demonstrate new file types, mappers, readers and writers costs too much time and trouble.

This error occurs without MITK really crashing. Ofcourse a messages that explains a bit clearer what could be the problem here would be nice, but that would be a feature request.

This is normally what happens when the first stepsize is to big or if in the initial situation too few points overlap. In this case the metric can't provide a good gradient for the optimizer. I think this has nothing to do with the absence of black borders. This is also no bug, but should be handled neatly

Data on the discs was incomplete

this behaviour seems to be wanted, but is indeed confusing. Maybe we should drop this difference between colours for selected images. It also does not change when the colour is default (red) so it is not a feature the user is used to in the first place and it does not happen for other types of nodes.

I think this is the intended default behaviour.

Could you check the preferences of the ExtApp and change the instance
related configuration and see if you are then able to open a second instance?

bug-12053-NoUndoOfWindowInteractions is the important branch

I removed the parts where interactions on the render windows are added to the stack (m_UndoController) of undo operations. Undo operations on the segmentation bundle work as before. However, I have now overview of other Modules that use Undo-Redo, so this should be tested before the release

I think you used the property list in a previous session and it was saved. Probably this behaviour is wanted.

Checked it over night with the ExtApp in debug mode on linux and the problem didn't occur

When using special symbols nothing happens, but the system does not crash. spaces or long pathnames were no problem. On Linux it worked completely. It could also be a bug in DCMTK.

What was the exact pathname? Did it contain spaces or other special symbols?

Problem seems to be the determination of the number of series. This should be done according to the Series Instance UID tab(0x0020,0x000e) and not the Study Instance UID(0x0020,0x000d)
