As suggested in the MITK mailinglist, one approach would be switching to cppMicroServices 3.x https://sourceforge.net/p/mitk/mailman/message/35879160/

@nolden, looks better (http://sidt-hpc3/view/MITK-PRE-MASTER/job/MPC_ninja/build_type=Debug,matrixBuildNinja=macOS_13_Beta_XC9/2/console), but now we ran into this issue already mentioned here T22929: Atomic operations API used in CppMicroServices are deprecated in macOS Sierra 10.12.5.
Aug 26 2017
@nolden changes can be committed beforehand into this MITK branch T23248-test-with-latest-master which has fixes so that DCMTK compiles on macOS with Clang.
Pushed new branch T23248-test-with-latest-master.
Pushed new branch T23302-sourcecode-fixes-for-clang-compatibility.
Will do. I had lots of time in the train to fix the Utility functions. Will upload them to this branch and then we can check -additionally to your fixes- what would be useful to include into master.

In File RegGrow.c this error is thrown:

seems like this only occurs when using the upload context menu in Datamanager. When using upload button I could not recall this issue.
On windows steps 2 and 3 are still needed because an error is thrown otherwise. Please note, that this was tested on DIPP2017029000. My tests on OSX were performed on a newer MITK master branch.

Tested proof of concept of this task while working on this task T23244: Xnat plugin: easy to use nrrd upload after DICOM import.
Step 2 and 3 can already be skipped. Tested on OSX using latest MITK master build. Need to verify on Windows and with a collaborating radiologist.

Works for me as well (OSX 10.11). However, current MITK master does not include the changes to dcmtk-3.6.1_20170228.tar.gz yet, to which @espak is referring to.

Access and Login to XNAT via Webbrowser works
Viewing images on and downloading images from XNAT-Webportal did not work and caused a Java error (Exception that some JavaClass is missing although java is properly installed). Therefore the Webportal is of low interest.
- Installation of DIPP will work only on new PCs with 64 Bit Operating system (ev. use Notebook)
- Test MITK-XNAT plugin on site (contact Mr. Falk Gauss, IT Admin at Forensics Dept.)

@nolden, tomorrow I will meet with Prof. Yen at forensics institute. If there is time left, XNAT-access via Webbrowser and MITK (DIPP with XNAT Plugin) testing can be performed.
Jul 19 2017
Talked to @nolden if an XNAT instance can be provided which is accessible from the internet.
