A better address for the DKFZ proxy is www-int2:3128.
After checking the mentioned CMake variables the error remains.
If you still have trouble on windows with getting a connection, the error can occur if your IP is not public. Then you need to use the proxy configuration:
The default way on windows is to install openSSL and point the installer to the corresponding libraries. I do not really see it as a superbuild option, as it is a non-issue on *nix systems usually, due to omnipresent openSSL.

@steint: You could use this task for further clarification / questions concerning the openSSL problem.

Pushed new branch T23244-XNAT-nrrd-convenient-upload-feature.
Aug 24 2017
seems like this only occurs when using the upload context menu in Datamanager. When using upload button I could not recall this issue.
On windows steps 2 and 3 are still needed because an error is thrown otherwise. Please note, that this was tested on DIPP2017029000. My tests on OSX were performed on a newer MITK master branch.

Tested proof of concept of this task while working on this task T23244: Xnat plugin: easy to use nrrd upload after DICOM import.
Step 2 and 3 can already be skipped. Tested on OSX using latest MITK master build. Need to verify on Windows and with a collaborating radiologist.

Access and Login to XNAT via Webbrowser works
Viewing images on and downloading images from XNAT-Webportal did not work and caused a Java error (Exception that some JavaClass is missing although java is properly installed). Therefore the Webportal is of low interest.
- Installation of DIPP will work only on new PCs with 64 Bit Operating system (ev. use Notebook)
- Test MITK-XNAT plugin on site (contact Mr. Falk Gauss, IT Admin at Forensics Dept.)

@nolden, tomorrow I will meet with Prof. Yen at forensics institute. If there is time left, XNAT-access via Webbrowser and MITK (DIPP with XNAT Plugin) testing can be performed.
