To perform a calibration despite these connection problems, a converter method was implemented as an alternative solution. After finishing the calibration in fcal, this method allows to load the xml-File from PLUS and to save the calibration in a *.cal-file ( see T23587).

IGT Navigation Tool Calibration test protocol was tested for both Polhemus and Aurora. In both cases the tool axis calibration is saved correctly, and when loading the calibrated tool storage, both the tool and tool storage are saved and loaded correctly.

Is that something we want OpenCV to download? IPP sounds like Intel Performance Primitives and AFAIK its license isn't liberal enough to be compatible to ours. I guess there's a CMake-variable we can set for OpenCV to stop it downloading other stuff. This variable can then be set in CMakeExternals/OpenCV.cmake.

The "ultimate" fix would be to fix CMake. Great if you could further narrow down the issue.

also: apparently this issue occurs when building on non-NTFS disks i.e. exFAT (testing now but we might think about only having .tar.gz files on thirdparty)

Note that the issue seems to occur for .zip files from thirdparty in general - but not on all windows machines

Last branch seems to work. Still needs to be tested with real tracking data, I only tested it with the virtual tracker.

I tried to build this branch with Ubuntu 18.04 and got the following errors during superbuild (seems as the download of the new OpenIGTLibrary needs to be added to the MITK servers):

The OpenIGTLink UI was tested last week by Benjamin and Thomas. I don't think there were problems.

The error message is shown in both Aurora and Polhemus cases.

Added the missing check. @aguilera Can you test if it works for the use case with Aurora / Polhemus as well?

The positions are recorded, but it crashes when clicking "Calibrate Tool Axis"

Both of these problems seem to be related to using the independent plugins USSupport and TrackingToolbox for an application specific workflow. The visualization is optimized for the data provided by these plugins (US images or tracking tools) to ensure that the views are initialized such that the image or tracking data is completely visible. The behavior is thus expected for a rather general purpose application such as the MITK workbench.

What's the status? Is it already mergable for the alpha branch? It will be closed very soon, like possibly Wednesday. As long as it compiles it should be enough for the alpha branch. In beta phase you can still fix other things, but not upgrade any external dependencies anymore.

After further trials, I also figured out, that there are problems in establishing a connection from MITK to PLUS:

• After created the combined modality in the IGT Echotrack Calibration
• Click "Start Calibration for selected Device"
• Select in "Spatial Calibration" the tab "PLUS Connection"
• Click "Setup PLUS Connection"
• Change to fcal, load config-File and click "Connect"
• Change to MITK, click "Start Streaming" --> MITK crashes in Release Mode --> No Crash , but tools are not available in fcal, in Debug Mode
