ok. thanks for investigating. I will have a look.
Further testing/debugging reveals that the error occurs in TotalSegmentatorTool::UpdatePrepare() method at preview->RemoveLabels(preview->GetAllLabelValues()). More precisely, the LabelSetImage::RemoveLabel method has this->InvokeEvent(LabelRemovedEvent(pixelValue)); which causes the exception. This issue is also applicable for Otsu tool (hence updating the title of this task).

Since it is the only preference page not loading and it is only happening when your tool is active it is most definitely related to a shared resource that is blocked by your tool. Something like the Python process or its encapsulation. Since it does not seem to be a complete dead lock (?) probably something like a mutex or similar is involved? Or whatever the internals of start_python_daemon() are, only one instance may be active per process maybe?

In a certain sense, the bug would be fixed by making sure the menus are present when the layout changes.
However, it might make sense to rethink the usefulness of these menus in the MxN context, since many features are not usable anyway (e.g. rotation).
The layout management of the rightmost menu can still be used, but might need heavy extension for useful usage. We might redesign it entirely, to make it more general for Std- and MxN-view, or remove it from MxN on purpose.

Deleted branch from rMITK MITK: bugfix/T30377-ViewNavigator.
Latest testing reveals that the issue is fixed in Ubuntu 22.04.
I think the reason is Qt6 update.
