Pushed new branch T25696-SuperfluousCOMMAND.
Started implementation in the branch, but doesn't work yet. Benjamin, can you fix this at the community day?
I think the main problem is the 3D rendering update. With the suggestions written down in the last comments we can however reach about 20 fps which is ok for the demos. We wont fix this now.
Pushed new branch T25693-Improve_UI_selection_widgets.

Pushed new branch T25692-CMake-3.13.

I interpret the section about application-level multithreading as "do it yourself in terms of event mechanisms and stuff". So this is still my first guess. We should at least update the WeakPointer documentation or think about if and how we could get it to work anyways.
Just checked the original DICOM and my output file of the derived image above. The original DICOM has the matrix inversion issue already. I bring the files along...
As far as I can tell files were split along t with fslsplit.
I'll catch some of the files on my way to the Hacking Week...
I converted them with a simple two-liner: mitk::IOUtil::Load<mitk::Image>(); mitk::IOUtil::Save();

T25602 changed the render window manager to be a data storage inspector. Therefore data nodes don't have to be added or removed by the user but the render window manager will always provide a filtered view on the data storage (filtered by the currently active base renderer).
Pushed new branch T25683-chartExamplePlugin.
@isensee : what is the source of these images? any chance to get the original DICOM?
